Frequent flyer program benefits
Oneworld Alliance is an exclusive partnership between international carriers from around the world. Big names such as British Airways, Qatar, FinnAir, Qantas, American Airlines, and Cathay Pacific are part of this elite alliance. Oneworld Alliance allows its member airlines to provide services beyond what any individual airline can offer by itself. Amongst some of the things they share between them is their frequent flyer program. Frequent flyer program benefits are just about endless and that is exactly what makes them so popular.

Airlines have gone above and beyond to outdo each other but also stay ahead of the game. Loyalty programs have evolved into a thriving industry that keeps getting better with time. This guide will give you a comprehensive look at all the benefits you get when you join a Oneworld Alliance frequent flyer program. The benefits keep increasing as your status in the loyalty program keeps getting higher.

1. Oneworld Alliance Benefits By Their Status

Even though oneworld does not have its own loyalty program, if you’re a member of one of the member airlines then your rewards and perks will be extended throughout the alliance. LATAM Pass members have to earn tier status throughout the course of the program. All the airlines in the oneworld Alliance have different names for their top membership tiers in their individual programs. The alliance has gone a step further and introduced a tier of names, which are based on gemstones that are the same all across oneworld Alliance.

Emerald: is symbolic of the top tier.
Sapphire: is the second tier.
Ruby: is the third tier.

The membership card of each individual has the gemstone symbol along with its appropriate color to make it easy for the staff to differentiate between members.

2. Access To Business Class Priority Check-In

Members from all three tiers have access to priority check-in at the business class counter. They can quickly check-in their bags without waiting in line for hours. Their bags will also be the first to be released at the destination.

3. Access To Preferred Or Pre-Reserved Seating

Members will have the first access to their choice of reward seats and purchased seats. Again, this is something that all three tiers have access to.

4. Access To Business Class Lounge

Ruby (the third tier) is exempted from this benefit, but the other two have full access to it. Whether you’re traveling on business class cabin or not, if you’re from the top two tiers you’ll have access to all the luxury that the business class lounges have to offer.

5. Priority Boarding

Priority boarding is given to both Sapphire and Emerald even if they’re actually flying coach.

6. Additional Baggage

Sapphire and Emerald can shop to their heart’s content at their holiday destinations because they have the advantage of extra baggage which weighs up to 15 kg.

7. Fast Track

This is great for frequent travelers because immigration and security check-in’s at the airport are a piece of cake for those who have access to Fast Track. Ruby does not have access to Fast Track, while the top two tiers do.
