The Best Techniques To Collect Frequent Flyer Miles

By: Mary Briscoe Categories: Airline Miles

Frequent Flyer Miles
Frequent flyer mile programs are basically loyalty programs used by airlines all around the globe as a way of marketing. You get free reward points of airlines on every dollar that you spend, or on every mile you fly with the airline. These free air miles can be redeemed by purchasing cabin upgrades or goods from partner services of the airlines. However, what many travelers don’t know is that you don’t have to always have to step inside an aircraft to collect frequent flyer miles. There are many other ways through which you can earn miles.

Flights

Flights
If you have already registered with the loyalty program of an airline, then it makes sense that you fly with them or their partner airlines. If you travel first class or business class with these airlines then you can earn a lot of miles but if you are not planning to travel in style and you want to fly in regular coach seat then you should try other ways to earn miles. If you fly frequently due to business purposes, check with your employer if you can claim the frequent flyer miles. Many companies call this a personal and extra perk for the employees.

Credit Cards

Credit Cards
In the year 1985, Diners Club launched credit cards that were associated with the loyalty programs of airlines. Since then this trend has been increasing; the airlines are linking with credit card companies so that the card possessors can earn free air miles on every dollar that they spend. This is one of the easiest ways to collect free air miles without flying.

Shopping For Services And Goods

Shopping For Services
Many international and small domestic airlines have partnered with big stores like Target, Macy’s and Walmart. So whenever you purchase goods or products through your credit card at these stores or any other partnered stores, you get free miles. This means you can collect frequent flyer air miles just by doing normal shopping like purchasing groceries or even apparel. You can also get air miles by staying at hotels, renting cars and paying for telephone services.

Lucky Draws

Lucky Draws
Look out for grand prizes and lucky draws where air miles are often offered as prizes. Unlike lotteries, you don’t have to buy any ticket to be part of a lucky draw and in sweepstakes you can earn up to 100,000 air miles.

Oneworld Alliance

Oneworld Alliance
OneWorld Alliance doesn’t have its own frequent flyer program but it can extend the program range of your existing program. Members of the AAdvantage Program, American Airlines, British Airways or Qantas airlines can also join the One world Alliance and earn miles by flying with other member airlines.

Promotional Offers

Promotional Offers
Before you book your hotel room or a flight, check whether the airline or hotel is offering a promotional offer for extra air miles. At times, booking for another hotel or airline can double or even triple the miles you have earned so far.
